A Night with Kids in Glass Houses - Pink Flamingo Tour Review
There’s nothing quite like the thrill of seeing a favourite band come back with new music, especially when it’s been years since their last release. That’s exactly how I felt last night, celebrating Kids in Glass Houses and their new album, Pink Flamingo. I can’t believe it’s been out for just over a month! Hearing their music live again after all this time was so surreal; it practically felt like a dream. My absolute favourite track? Rothko Painting. That song hits different live – the whole album does, really.
When Pink Flamingo first dropped, Kids in Glass Houses did a series of album launch shows. Now, this leg of the tour lets fans experience the album almost in its entirety. And let me tell you, it’s a whole new level hearing it live. Some albums don’t really hit until you experience them this way, and this one did not disappoint.
A Perfect Lineup of Supports
First up, we had Himalayas, and they set the tone perfectly. Their energy had the crowd nodding along, and everyone was racing to the merch table when they wrapped up. Even a small technical hiccup couldn’t throw them off! I could easily see them tearing up a festival stage someday soon—Isle of Wight or Reading and Leeds would be perfect spots for them, especially on an up-and-coming stage.
Then there was Mouth Culture. I’ve seen these guys perform a few times back when they were playing to small crowds at The Joiners, and every time, they bring more and more energy. They keep getting better, and their set last night showed they’re more than ready for bigger stages. I’d love to see them on the lineup for Reading or Slam Dunk next summer; they deserve a huge crowd to match their massive sound. If they keep performing like this, it’s only a matter of time before they’re headlining themselves.
A Trip Down Memory Lane – and It Was Better Than Ever
There’s always that little worry when you go back to something you loved as a teenager – like rewatching a favourite movie, only to find it’s not quite as good as you remember. That’s honestly how I felt before the show started: a little worried that my memories would overshadow reality. What if the experience didn’t live up to the hype I’d built in my mind? What if I left feeling like they’d somehow “ruined” the magic?
Well, Kids in Glass Houses absolutely shattered any doubts I had. The show was everything I could’ve wanted and more! They didn’t just play the hits or stick to Pink Flamingo; they gave us a perfect mix of old and new, blending everything together so smoothly it was like no time had passed. The crowd was electric, the band was on fire, and I was left with that magical feeling you get when everything just clicks. It was pure, unfiltered joy.
Honestly, seeing Kids in Glass Houses live again was a reminder of why I fell in love with music in the first place. They’ve still got it – maybe even more than ever – and I’ll be riding the high of this show for a long time. If you get the chance to see them on this tour, go. You’ll remember why live music is one of the greatest things in the world.
